The government had earlier confirmed a week-long holiday for public sector employees.

The UAE government has announced the official holidays for private sector employees across the country on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. The festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. During this month, over 1.8 Billion Muslims worldwide fast from dawn to dusk and focus on spirituality.

Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) on Monday officially announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for employees working in the private sector.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that Monday, 29 Ramadan (8 April 2024) to 3 Shawwal (or what is equivalent to it in the Gregorian calendar) will be a paid holiday for all employees in the private sector across the UAE on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

Ramdan 2024

This means the Eid holiday for the private sector begins on Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29).

If Ramadan lasts 29 days

Residents will get six days off, including the weekend. The Eid break will be from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), until Thursday, April 11. If you include the Saturday-Sunday weekend before the break, that’s a total of six days off. The break then is from Saturday, April 6, until Thursday, April 11.

If Ramadan lasts 30 days

The Eid break is from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29), until Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3). If you factor in the Saturday-Sunday weekends before and after the break, that’s a total of nine days off. The break then is from Saturday, April 6, until Sunday, April 14.

UAE public sector to enjoy the 9-day break

The UAE Cabinet has confirmed a week-long public sector holiday to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr. This aligns with the earlier announcement from the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. Government employees will be on paid leave from Monday, April 8, to Sunday, April 14, returning to work on Monday, April 15.

Preparations have already begun among residents for the religious holiday. From glamorous outfits to making food in advance, the festive craze is slowly spreading across the country.
