Abu Dhabi Announces a 10% Tourism Tax Waiver till the End of the Year

Abu Dhabi extends the waiver of tourist taxes for event tickets until December 31, 2024, to promote the tourism and events industry. The exemption from the regular 10% tourism tax and its associated charges benefits event organisers. This is in step with Abu Dhabi’s goals of growing its tourism appeal. Other measures, such as reducing hotel fees and modifying holiday home policies, aim to support industry growth.

Abu Dhabi authorities have extended the waiver on tourist taxes for event tickets until the end of 2024, to promote the tourism and events industries. The waiver, which exempts organisers from the standard 10% tourism tax on ticket sales, is part of a broader effort to encourage industry expansion.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has also prolonged the exemption of costs associated with issuing, distributing, and promoting event tickets across the emirate. Saleh Mohammed Al Geziry, the director-general of tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasised the significance of supporting event partners and organisers, highlighting their pivotal role in the emirate’s tourism and entertainment landscape.

This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision to enhance its position as a premier destination for tourism and events. The extension of the tourism fee waiver underscores the commitment of local authorities to provide sustained backing for the industry’s development, particularly amidst ongoing global challenges.
